Good Apple TV Shows

Published on 2026-01-20. Last updated on 2026-01-21.

I've watched several Apple TV shows, so here's a list of what I recommend.

Shows worth watching

Murderbot - In a distant future, a big tech company manufactures subservient robots but one has gone rogue and finds themselves aiding naive humans making dangerous choices on a dangerous planet. Can the bot save them? Can the bot save itself? Comedy + action.

Severance - Very slow S1, but it became immensely popular starting with S2 for very good reason.

Silo - A dystopian show that will grip you from the beginning and leave you sad when you run out of episodes. Stars Rebecca Ferguson and Harriet Walter.

Slow Horses - A team of deeply flawed black sheep MI5 agents led by a funny, unflattering man handle threats to national security with finesse.

Dark Matter (2024) - A professor is kidnapped by someone he could've never guessed and left for dead (life?) in a familiar but distant world.

For All Mankind - What if the Soviet Union got to the moon first? Disasters in space, weapons in space, and asteroid burglary.

Drops of God - A renowned deceased wine professor leaves three impossible tests to his favorite student and estranged daughter. Whoever passes all tests collects the inheritance. The daughter is allergic to alcohol.

Black Bird - Law enforcement strikes a deal with an inmate that requires him to find incriminating evidence against another inmate. But is the other inmate guilty?

Ted Lasso - A show that'll warm your heart.

Platonic - A comedy with two codependent best friends played by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne.

Trying - A young couple unable to have kids tries for adoption, but it ain't easy. Wholesome comedy. Watch S1 and stop there.

Pluribus - Something has taken over almost everyone like they're on uppers and it's up to a debbie downer to bring them all back down to earth.

Pachinko - If you've read the book then you'll enjoy it, else skip.

Okay shows

No regrets, but not necessarily going to bring up or recommend in conversation.

Stick - An endearing, high-potential story almost sabotaged by a character and subplot that adds Zero value and detracts from the story. Entertaining nonetheless, and has Owen Wilson.

Hijack - A plane is hijacked and it's up to one dude on the plane and a few others on the ground to save the day. The show did well with what it had, but the plot just ain't that unique or interesting.

Shrinking - A wholesome comedy that falls short of Ted Lasso or Trying. S2 is much better than S1, should you choose to watch it.

The Big Door Prize - An interesting and unique premise making for interesting conversation, but with lackluster storytelling.

".... in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so." - Anton Ego (Ratatouille, 2007)

Shows I definitely recommend skipping

Five Days at Memorial - A true story about a hospital during Hurricane Katrina. It chronicles real events, but sometimes reality is less interesting than the stories of other shows on this list, doubly so if you're already familiar with Hurricane Katrina. If you like watching a slow, predictable real-life disaster, then you'll enjoy this.

Mythic Quest - A show nobody talks about, and rightfully so. But there is one standalone episode that is a beautiful work of art and ensures your Apple TV monthly subscription has paid for itself (if it wasn't a part of your credit card benefits). The special standalone episode is Dark Quiet Death (S1E5). A must watch!
